Support Frog Pond's Comeback After the Storm

The Frog Pond has served North Redington Beach and the neighboring gulf beaches for over 43 years. This iconic family owned restaurant is known for its large breakfast portions and quality ingredients that have remained consistent for many decades. The Frog Pond has been very fortunate with overwhelming business support from the Pinellas County locals as well as vacationers that make sure to come back whenever they are in town. After working his way up from the bottom, David Hitterman took over the business 35 years ago and has successfully sustained the integrity of the quality food, excellent service and of course the large potions. About 17 years ago, David and his partner Brian Calkins opened up their second location on St. Petersburg Beach. On Thursday, September 26th, all of their hard work was taken from under their feet when Hurricane Helene completely flooded both restaurants with over five feet of water. The water surged through the glass windows and doors, causing devastating destruction, completely ruining the floors, carpets, plumbing, electrical wires, grills, coolers and all of the equipment needed to operate the business. The damages are currently estimated anywhere from 100,000 to 150,000 for both of the restaurants. We are absolutely devastated and want to keep this business going for the community that has supported us all these years, and the staff that has worked so hard to obtain such a great reputation. This is truly heartbreaking to write but we are desperate and willing to do anything to keep this business operating to continue many years of fantastic food and excellent service. It may take some time but with any help we can get we have high hopes of coming back stronger than ever. We appreciate the overwhelming support of this community and hope to see you all soon.
