Support Fund for David Durham's Memorial

Donation protected
At 11:51 AM on Thursday, 7/25 while I was at work, I received a voicemail from my aunt urging me to call her back right away. As soon as I heard her message, I knew something was wrong. I rushed outside to call her back and when she answered, in that moment, my earth shattered and I knew that my dad, David Durham, was gone. We still don't know the cause of death yet, we're waiting on autopsy results. It's possible it could be related to a fall down the stairs he had, but he was also sick. :(

Anyone that had the opportunity to know my dad knows that he may have not had much but that he would always make the most with what he had. He was giving, caring, sweet. The whole neighborhood knew him as Uncle Dave and when I had the opportunity to see him off on video chat, it looked like the whole block was there to send him off. He was quick to help and easy to please. He'd make friends with anybody he'd come across because he was that friendly. I always caught him talking to someone outside while he was visiting here in California like he was ready to come live here with me. And he looooooved his Tupac & the Golden State Warriors! He was finally starting to turn his life around and had opportunities and hope on the horizon. He would have been 52 in August.

With this being so unexpected, this has been very overwhelming for our family to navigate, especially as there may be a party at fault for not responding in the proper manner. This has been reported and steps have been taken to pursue a potential case if we have one, but that is another issue entirely. My family and I are going to be struggling to afford this, but we do want to try and give him a beautiful celebration of life memorial in Detroit with as much of the family together that we can. I'm unfortunately not going to be able to take any unpaid time off because I want to help as much as possible with covering whatever costs I can. We are honoring his wishes of being cremated.

Many of you have been asking for any ways you can help, the smallest donation or a share would make the difference so we don't have to face it alone. I know he meant a lot to a lot of people. It brings me that much more sadness that I didn't get the chance to introduce and share him with my California family and friends to show everyone what a goofy kind human he was.

I'm going to miss him so much. Anything helps. If Gofundme isn't a platform you wish to share on, feel free to message me and we can work out other avenues as well. Thank you for reading and for all the help.
