Support Gabriel After Mark Johnson's Passing

Mark Johnson died August 4th in Little Rock, leaving behind a lifetime of creative work, as a painter, musician, and an actor – in dozens of roles on stages in Memphis, at Arkansas Rep, and in 27 movies and TV shows. What he didn't leave behind was a will, access codes for his computer, or details on his finances for his son Gabriel. He lived with Mark and stopped working so he could help his Dad, beginning with his first hospitalization in March. Gabriel’s mom and Mark’s beloved wife Kathy died in 2010 so Gabriel is on his own now, and needs a little help from friends.

Those who have slogged through probate have an idea of Gabriel's situation, compounded by a severe lack of money. Mark's bank covered overdrafts for his auto-paid bills for a few months, but the account was frozen and total reimbursements plus interest are now over $1,500. Gabriel has exhausted his savings and is in a real financial bind. When the estate clears probate, some backlogged money will flow and Gabriel is looking for a job and a roommate. But right now he seriously needs our help – to pay for the overdrafts and to cover his basic living expenses. He's in danger of utilities & insurance cancellations and he's got to eat while he gets things straightened out.

This is a call to everyone who remembers the powerful experience of watching Mark onstage or acting with him, being drawn to his pictures or moved by his music. If each one of us will just give what they can, I think we can reach our goal and hopefully exceed it. We can make a world of difference to Gabriel at this most difficult time in his life.
