Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,
(update: my dear dad Gaddi DeMatta has passed away 1/11/25 at 1:06 am. Thank you being so generous, and loving towards me and my family with the support of the donations. it will be used towards his funeral expenses, anything helps at all ❤️)
My name is Sofia DeMatta and I wanted to share an update about my dad, Gaddi DeMatta and ask for your continued prayers. A couple of days ago, my dad began experiencing concerning symptoms of vision loss, disorientation, and confusion. These symptoms escalated, and he was rushed by ambulance to University Hospital in San Antonio, TX, where he was diagnosed with severely untreated diabetes.
His blood sugar levels were dangerously high—around 1500. The family was called in to say goodbye last night, as doctors didn't think he would make it through the night. Despite the odds, my dad made it through with family by his side. His blood sugar levels have since been brought down to around 300, which is a step in the right direction.
Currently, my dad is on life support in the ICU, as his kidneys, heart, and lungs are very weak. However, there have been some encouraging signs: this morning, he responded to yes/no questions and seemed to recognize and respond to his name. These small moments give us hope that he is still fighting.
He is starting dialysis now due to kidney failure, and it’s likely he will need ongoing dialysis treatments for the rest of his life. He is extremely dehydrated, and his eyesight remains uncertain at this time. Because of his condition, the doctors are unable to do anything but wait and see how his body responds to dialysis.
We humbly ask for your prayers—for my dad’s health and recovery, and for peace and strength for our family. Additionally, we are seeking support to help cover the cost of medical bills and expenses during this challenging time. We will continue to provide updates as we can.
My family and I appreciate all the love and support and anything helps.
Thank you all.
