Galen Lee has been married for 27 years to his love of his life Casondra. Together they have raised 2 sons, Jonathan (25) and Timothy (20). He has been a part of the Cowley County community for the past 21 years. He worked at Winfield Correctional facility for the majority of the time and most recently, the past 6 years Galen has worked Security for Securitas at Creekstone Farms at the Fab gate on 2nd shift. When he is not at work, he is spending time with his family and trying to help take some burden of the housework off of his wife who is fighting health issues and of course watching his CHIEFS. In 2020 when his wife was diagnosed with her illnesses, he was really struggling. That is when he reached out to his pastor and said I’m done. I’m ready to give my life to God, that is when he turned his life over to God and has not looked back.
Galen has suffered with pain for many years without any answers. On May 4, 2024, he started having trouble breathing and chest pains and was admitted to the hospital for observation of his heart and to rule out any cardiac issues, which they were able to be ruled out. Once released he was treated for the beginning of pneumonia by his new primary care physician. Then on May 14, 2024, he received a call from the doctor at the hospital that they had sent his blood work to pathology due to a high white blood cell count and they needed to inform him he has Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). After speaking with his primary care physician, he found out it was either Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or Mantle Cell Lymphoma. On May 17, 2024, he had his first appointment with the oncologist who is leaning towards Chronic lymphocytic leukemia and is now sending him for further testing (full body pet scan along with a specialized blood test called a FISH panel) to confirm the stage and get a plan in place. June 25, 2024, he was sent to the ER by his doctor due to severe pain where did a CT scan that did not show good results. He originally was to see the oncologist July 15 to go over the test results however due to the ER visit and CT results he now sees the oncologist on July 1st. At this time has health insurance through his employer of a “very high deductible plan” and has $4800 left before his insurance pays 100% for the remainder of this year. He is also missing work due to appointments and illness. It is unknown how long he will be out of work and if he will have insurance coverage during that time.
Any funds raised will go towards medical bills and missed wages for daily living. We greatly appreciate all help. If you could please pray for the family in this time of trial that would be wonderful.
