Support Gary on His Healing Journey
Donation protected
Aloha, my name is Kaila, and I am fundraising for my dad, Gary Cornelius.
On September 21st, my dad fell at a doctor's appointment and broke his hip. He spent about a week in the hospital getting partial hip replacement surgery and recovering. He was then transferred to a Rehab facility where he could focus on healing, recovering, and getting the proper care and support for physical therapy. He was able to come home on October 7th. He is currently recuperating and continuing home care with Home Health Nurses coming in several times during the week to assist with physical and occupational therapy.
Those of you who know my dad know he is a hard-working, loving, selfless, and just overall fantastic man. My dad was meant to retire years ago but has continued working until recently in the Spring, when he had to go out on temporary disability due to another injury. These injuries have put a significant financial strain on him since he hasnʻt been able to work, and he now has more needs that canʻt be addressed on his current income.
I am creating this fundraiser in hopes that we can alleviate some of the financial strain and stress my dad is facing. Some of his current needs include the following:
-A Stairlift: He owns a two-story house, and all the showers and rooms are located on the second floor. This will allow him to go upstairs without fear of falling and be more comfortable in his home. He is limited to the first floor right now and is sleeping on a hospital bed in the living room until we can get him up the stairs. A stairlift varies in pricing but comes with an average price tag of $3000.
-Funds for Medical Bills: This is a broad category. Insurance does not cover everything, and my dad will have bills from doctors, hospitals, and rehab facilities. In addition to any further treatment or medications, he may need going forward.
My dad is not a man who will ask for help. He instead gives all he has and has done so for years. We will appreciate any help we can get to support his recovery.
