Gary J. Veylupek was born on December 22, 1946 and raised in Maryville Missouri. Played basketball because he was tall but his real love was baseball & the st louis cardinals. Started playing drums at a young age & eventually moved on to bass & guitar. That's where he felt his best. He started a band & began playing at school dances & bars & dives in neighboring larger cities. He started college, played the base drum in the marching band, got married, had a son & continued playing live music gigs whenever he could. After earning a music degree he started teaching High school music. After a short time doing that he left, got a divorce & started traveling all around the US. Eventually he went back to school, met his 2nd wife, move to Austin TX & had a daughter. But music & baseball never left his life.

Austin being the live music capital of the world opened up a lot of opportunities to play music. He joined & startedh many bands & became locally famous. He also coached a college team the Austin athletics for years. In the early 90s he started giving private guitars lessons at a vintage guitar store. The store moved to down town Austin above the continental club where many famous musicians started. He then managed the well known One World Music Vintage Guitar Store for over 20 years. He knew alot of famous people & often saw them playing guitars he sold them on Austin City Limits. Kid Rock, Cheryl Crow, Kevin Fowler, Mike Judge, & James Merideth to name a few. By the time the store closed he was at the age to retire. He still played around town occasion but was happy with his family & hone life too. After his wife died his age started to slow him down. 9 years later his heart gave out & he passed peacefully surrounded buy his loved ones. Everyone who knew him says the same thing. He was cool, smart, kind, & a very good husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend, & man in general. He will be missed by many.
Please help his family by donating what you can to help with the burial costs.
