My valued supporters,

Your support has made a big difference in my new life. My campaign consisted of three parts, and the biggest part was the attorney fee owed to Okan Sengun. I’m happy to share that the Okan Law Group has now offered me their services free of charge for the remainder. For this reason, I am decreasing the fundraising goal to $6000. 

After the attorney fee, my second goal was to be reunited with my family and to help them get over the difficulties they face in Turkey. To support the legal fight to keep my family safe in Turkey, please continue to show your support and share with your friends and family.

Diana is currently seeking safety from transphobic violence and abuse committed by her country and her family in Turkey.


Diana faced a life-threatening situation at home while dealing with police surveillance and was in constant fear of prosecution on the streets of Istanbul. The core part of her identity, gender, was used as grounds for state and family violence against her. 


In seeking refuge as a trans survivor of violence, she managed to move to San Francisco by herself about six months ago without knowing anyone there. She found Asian Women’s Shelter’s Queer and Trans Support Program and has been assisted with emergency shelter and transitional housing.  Now, she is pursuing asylum in the United States. 


As a non-English speaking person, she found a Turkish-speaking attorney who specializes in working with LGBT immigrants from Turkey. This attorney's assistance will be the cornerstone of her stability and safety here so she won’t be deported back to her country. 


Additionally, Diana hopes to raise more funding to reunite with her children, who are currently in Turkey. Her family has been dealing with unsafe situations at home and Diana has been supporting them financially with an attorney.

Who is the other organizer? 
Sim Neyzi is a Turkish/American CA resident, who has been helping Diana as an interpreter and also raising money for her asylum case. Sim acts as a front person for collecting funds in this fundraising while Diana’s case is in process.
