Many in our Groton-Dunstable community know Janie Cowgill. She's been a local pre-school teacher for 30 years here in Dunstable, MA... Literally hundreds of family's have benefited from Janie's care, compassion and ongoing friendships, long after their littles have gone on to graduate college. She is one of the kindest and most selfless people I have ever known. I am saddened to share that Janie's beloved husband, George, has been diagnosed with cancer.
In the first week of June, George was not feeling well. He had labs run and his white blood cell count was super high. George has since been diagnosed with a very rare form of blood cancer called t-cell prolymphocytic leukemia. His treatment at Tufts Medical Center in Boston will begin immediately and be aggressive. George will travel into Tufts (with Janie by his side) for treatments three times a week for several months. George, Janie, their 3 children - Emmy, Carrie & Cliff, along with their extended families, are reeling with this scary news. George will be immunocompromised during treatment and his doctors have advised him to stay home and limit his exposure to others.
As you may imagine, George will not be able to work for the foreseeable future. Janie, who would often provide child or pet care for local families during the summer months, will also be unable to work outside of their home as she will be caring for and driving George to and from his appointments.
Let’s all come together to support the Cowgill's during this challenging time. No donation is too small. These funds will defray living expenses, travel expenses to Boston (gas/parking), co-pays and other out-of-pocket medical costs, lodging, etc. I know you will agree, Janie has always shown such kindness and support to those in need, let's now give back to her and her family, your support is so greatly needed.
Thank you in advance for your donation, love, and support. I know Janie and George will appreciate them immensely.
