Support George Doolin in his cancer battle
Donation protected
We are entering the second year of George's battle with adenocarcinoma stage 4 colorectal cancer with widespread metastatic tumors. We have celebrated a few successes and suffered many setbacks. George is currently enrolled in a clinical trial and is receiving excellent care from his family, oncologist, surgeons, and clinicians in the UVA system. At this time, all care is palliative, but we continue to hold hope and lean into our faith.
George is a loving husband, father, friend, and community volunteer. He is a retired first responder currently working full-time as a private contract security officer and volunteering as an ambulance driver. George also volunteers on the safety and security team at his Church. He is a man of God who is deeply devoted to his family. His faith has not wavered, and his attitude of hope is a beacon for all.
A new year means new deductibles and copays, and the medical bills have already started rolling in. The treatments related to his clinical trial are all covered, but all other services and medications fall to us and our insurance. Our insurance policy does cover most of his treatments and medications once we have met that deductible. But, any treatment or medication not covered by our plan needs to be paid out of pocket. George has had to take some days off due to the fevers caused by the trial treatments, and I fear that he will exceed his PTO, resulting in a loss of wages. My small business suffered losses in 2023 as I navigated both George's and my medical needs. We simply have not had any funds to put in savings.
It is with a heavy heart that I post this GoFundMe site. We have been so grateful for the outreach and support from family and friends. The outpouring of love and support has been incredible. We have never felt alone this last year, and we can not express in words the gratitude that we feel for all our blessings. We thank you all for contributing however you can to support George as we continue to navigate this path.
