Support Geraldine's Recovery from Fire

On January 23, 2025 my aunts house caught on fire, due to a faulty heater. My cousins daughter Geraldine was asleep in the bedroom where the fire was the strongest. My cousin was in the living room. Once my cousin realized there was a fire she ran in to save Geraldine. She suffered burns to her face and Geraldine who is 5 years old suffered 2nd degree burns to her arms and face. They are both currently in the hospital in Juarez. They’ll need their wounds cleaned then reevaluated to see if surgery will be needed.

So far their hospital bill is already over 300,000 pesos which is equal to around $15,000.

The house is a total loss. The only thing they were able to save was themselves with the clothes on their back. My aunt lived in that house for over 50 years. She raised all of her children there. Right now they’re only worried about the medical expenses for Geraldine. Geraldine is already suffering from a brain tumor she previously had partially removed but it will not stop growing. She has been through so much.

El 23 de enero de 2025, la casa de mi tía se incendió debido a un calentador defectuoso. La hija de mi prima, Geraldine, estaba durmiendo en su cuarto donde el fuego era más fuerte. Mi prima estaba en la sala. Una vez que mi prima se dio cuenta de que había un incendio, corrió para salvar a Geraldine. Sufrió quemaduras en la cara y Geraldine, que tiene 5 años, sufrió quemaduras de segundo grado en los brazos y la cara. Ambas están actualmente en el hospital de Juárez. Necesitarán que les limpien las heridas y luego las reevalúen para ver si será necesaria una cirugía.

Hasta ahora, la factura del hospital ya supera los 300.000 pesos, lo que equivale a unos 15.000 dólares.

La casa es una pérdida total. Lo único que pudieron salvar fue a ellos mismos con la ropa que llevaban puesta. Mi tía vivió en esa casa más de 50 años. Crió a todos sus hijos allí. En este momento, solo están preocupados por los gastos médicos de Geraldine. Geraldine ya sufre de un tumor cerebral que le extirparon parcialmente anteriormente, pero que no deja de crecer. Ha pasado por mucho.
