Easing the burden after Jose Cruz's sudden passing

My name is Gloria Bayardo Cruz, the recent widow of Jose Angel Cruz. Jose had been battling Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer since 2020, but he did not let it define him. Having previously won his battle after being diagnosed with Stage 3 Testicular Cancer in 2008, he wasn’t afraid to fight the good fight. He fought with tremendous strength, courage, hope, and faith. Despite years of multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, hospital stays, and endless doctor visits, he never complained and was at peace with his fate. He lived each day like it was his last, full of life and joy, always putting his loved ones before him.

After meeting at the age of 16 and 18, we built a beautiful life together despite all the hardships we encountered throughout the years. This month, we celebrated 24 years together and were looking forward to many more. On Monday night, September 9, 2024, we shared our last BIG HUG and kiss goodnight. Sadly, he didn't wake up the next morning.
