My name is Alea, and I'm reaching out with a plea for help. In April I decided to foster a cat from our local shelter Austin Pets Alive! here in Austin, Texas, and named her Gloria.

Gloria is a loving and gentle cat, who is only four years old, and has already experienced a great deal of adversity in her life. She was dropped off at the shelter by her breeder after having produced several litters when she developed a severe form of skin inflammation all over her body, which would have been too costly to take care of.

When I picked her up, she was dangerously emaciated, and covered in her own feces. She had lost her appetite in the shelter and didn’t seem to have much desire left for life. Her skin condition led to her losing most of her fur and developing many painful sores and blisters, which bring her great discomfort. The source of her skin inflammation doesn’t seem to be directly caused by environmental factors and is yet to be determined.

While the shelter provides foster cats with basic in-house veterinary care, their funds and resources are limited. Her previous medications treated her symptoms to some extent but couldn’t address the root cause of her condition.

I am aiming to raise $12,000 which will enable me to get Gloria seen by my specialized feline veterinarian who can provide her with extensive testing and a targeted long-term treatment plan. Once funds are raised, this external veterinary treatment will be proposed to Austin Pets Alive! and go through an approval process.

It will further help me out financially and cover my personal expenses for alternative healing modalities such as micro current therapy, dietary supplements, probiotics, and homeopathy as well as pay for a professional carpet cleaning (she frequently misses her litter boxes...) This way, I can continue to care for her in my home.
