Support Golden Grizzly Jazz Singers' Jazz Festival Hopes

Hello! My name is Scott Gwinnell. I am a special-lecturer at Oakland University and in the director of our Jazz Singers program. Our flagship group, the Golden Grizzly Jazz Singers has qualified to participate in Western Michigan University's Gold Company Jazz Festival this March! We are thrilled and know we could go and make Detroit proud with our singers. The Gold Company Festival is one of the most prestigious vocal jazz festivals in the US, and we are honored to be invited.

Oakland University has been very supportive and paid for our hotel rooms and registration. We still have to find funds to get the students to Kalamazoo and provide 15 students with food two or three meals.

For those who know me, you know my dedication to jazz and education. I don't routinely ask for funding, but these students have kept together for 3 years in hopes of playing outside the school to receive valuable adjudication and to do something special before 2/3 of the group graduates in April. They have earned this opportunity with hard work as a choir, equally hard work as soloists, and humility.
