Support Gracie’s Acute Myeloid Leukemia Healing

My name is Stephanie Hercules and I created this page to help raise money for my Soul Sister, Best Friend, the Brightest most Beautiful Soul you could ever meet, Gracie Roca! Gracie was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia in 2014. This year the CML has transitioned to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) , during the chemo treatment stages to lower the leukemia cells present in her blood and bone marrow.

After 3 rounds of chemo this year, 2 of which were in hospital amd one round outpatient chemo, her Oncologist recommended Gracie to receive a Stem Cell Transplant. It’s been quite the journey this year already, some very tough times as well as many miracles and abundance of blessings. February was Gracie’s first round of intravenous chemo for 8 days and a whole month in the hospital with many blood and platelet transfusions, chemo pills, multiple different antibiotics and medications, bloodwork daily to keep track of blood counts and leukemia cells in the body. May was the second round of IV chemo, another lengthy stay at the hospital for 1 1/2 months. June was 4 days of IV chemo outpatient. Every hospital stay amd time in between was filled with more doctor appointments, blood work, transfusions, medications, post chemo home care. This is just a glimpse into the financial aspect of things, where up to now insurance has covered a lot of treatments thus far.

Gracie is on the road to to do her transplant and Her Sister, Farrah Roca, is a perfect donor match and all the necessary testing and bloodwork has been done! What a miracle! This timing is all in Gods hands and what a mighty God we serve, who blesses us all. Between the costs of medications, appointments, infusion therapy, Ambulance/ER bills, and time out of work, It has had a profound impact on Gracie’s financial situation in this stage of life.

The last bone marrow biopsy done detected 50% leukemia cells present in the bone marrow only, but with those numbers her Doctor is referring her out of state to MD Anderson hospital in Houston Texas, where they are better equipped to handle cases like Gracie’s, they are very efficient, and have access to new and innovative treatments there that is not available here in Memphis and they also perform Stem Cell Transplants in cases that show higher than 10% leukemia cells present in bone marrow.

She received news from her Insurance carrier that as of right now the insurance is not covering anything, not even the first consultation with her doctor. Just to see the doctor and have lab and bloodwork tests the cost upfront is $47,000. The Stem Cell Transplant is an essential procedure that carries significant medical expenses ranging upwards of $50,000. Though there are many resources for financial aid, the cost of progressive cancer is insurmountable and ongoing. Her goal of $100,000 is the projected cost of the first year post diagnosis. Every dollar raised will be used to cover the medical expenses associated with Gracie’s medical bills and stem cell transplant, including pre-transplant procedures, hospital stays, post-transplant medications, and follow-up care. Your contributions, no matter the size, will have a profound impact on Gracie’s focus, to focus on what truly matters: peace, healing, regaining her strength, and walking in divine health.

One thing I know about Gracie and that inspires me and so many others is that her blind faith is so strong and solid! No matter what Doctors say she knows all is well, and her beliefs and knowingness in who she is, a faithful follower and servant of God whose faith moves mountains, whose faith is above anyone or anything humanly, she truly lives heaven on earth, even when!
