Support Grady’s Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jack Blais, and I’m starting this fundraiser for my dear friend and SigEp Brother, Grady Gobeil —a University of Maine student who embodies everything we admire in a leader and role model. A little bit about Grady, he served as the Vice President of Programming for SigEp, raising over $10,000 for philanthropic causes, works at the New Balance Rec Center on campus to support student life, and takes pride in his major, working diligently in his classes, regularly being on the Dean's list. Grady loves UMaine Hockey, New England sports, hiking, fishing, and spending quality time with those dear to him. Beyond his busy schedule, Grady is known for his unwavering kindness and desire to uplift others. Grady has supported mental health awareness within the chapter, creating an outlet for other brothers to be vulnerable.
Why He Needs Our Help
Recently, Grady was diagnosed with Stage 3A Metastatic cancer, causing him to undergo a rigorous chemotherapy process in Boston, MA. His parents are required to drive there and back, and hotel stays are sometimes necessary because of the physical effects. This not only takes time out of his parents’ busy schedules but creates extra financial baggage. This only compounds when considering rental costs that Grady is locked into for housing, car maintenance, and other everyday expenses.
How Your Support Will Help
Every donation will go directly towards critical expenses that will allow Grady to focus on what matters most—his health and recovery:
1. Medical Bills & Treatment Costs
Covering chemotherapy, hospital stays, medications, and related travel and lodging expenses in Boston.
2. Living Expenses
Helping with rent, utility bills, groceries, and car costs to ease the financial burden while he undergoes treatment.
3. Education
Assisting with outstanding tuition and fees so he can continue his studies once he’s healthy and strong enough to return to campus.
How You Can Help
1. Donate: Any amount you can give will make a meaningful difference in Grady’s life.
2. Share: Spreading the word through social media or email can help reach others who might be able to contribute.
3. Encourage: Your words of support, prayers, and positive messages mean the world to Grady and keep him motivated during this difficult time.
Thank You
Having known Grady for the last three years it is clear that he is an amazing person with a bright future. Having lived with him for a year and a half he has shown nothing but love and respect for everyone around him. He has always gone above and beyond when faced with the duties of being a friend and a brother, standing by our sides no matter the circumstances. Now, it’s our turn to stand by his side. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading his story, contributing, and sending your support. Together, we can help Grady overcome this challenge and get back to what he does best: spreading hope, kindness, and positivity to everyone he meets.
