Support Grammy's Place, a home for trans women

Donation protected
I am opening my home to marginalized Black transgender/femme/queer/GNB folks by creating a mentoring program centered on mental health care and wellbeing as a foundation for a happy, healthy, prosperous life. I want to eventually have the capacity for 6, with four going in the garage apartment and two living inside the main house. Still, at the moment, two folks will be the capacity until renovations fully integrate the garage apartment into the main house's electricity and ensure the structure is sturdy, as it was built in an era without housing code regulations.

Although I can cover the mortgage, I will need help with the garage apartment structural fixes and the increased cost of feeding and providing transportation, utilities and other related expenses like beds and bedding materials, gender affirming care/medications, identification and birth certificates. I also hope to purchase a van at some point and be able to pay a transgender survivor to manage the program, freeing me to continue the fight to destigmatize transgender women/femmes/queer/GNB folks. I am hoping to guide these souls towards mental balance as a foundation to create the life they want for themselves.

I want them to enjoy the safe space of a home environment and reap the benefit of decades of experience that center their individual needs, whether it is job training, activism/organizing, furthering their education or starting their own business. Linkages to resources, how to navigate them, what they are eligible to take advantage of and how to use the systems to achieve their long-term goals.

I am not a nonprofit or a charity; I am a 55-year-old transgender woman offering my home as a base for success. I am not rich; I make a modest income, but I am willing to open my home and provide guidance to young adults left behind, and I humbly come to the greater community to be a part of changing someone's life with me.
