Help support staff at Miss Margrits
Over the last five years Nicaragua has grown to be one of Central America's preferred tourist destinations. Its beautiful
scenery and warm people have allowed countless visitors from all over the world to enjoy their vacation here.
As many of you are aware, since April 19th, Nicaragua has suffered a humanitarian, social, and economic crisis. Here in
Granada, many businesses have been forced to make the difficult decision to close their doors given the absence of tourists, leaving many families without an income. Granada's economy is 70% tourism which means a big proportion of our
community are now without work and unable to support their families.
Our team here at Miss Margrits has equally been affected. Whilst we have tried to mitigate the impact, without any guests, there’s only so much we can do.
Many past visitors have reached out to ask how they can help support Nicaragua and or the staff of Miss Margrits. Whilst
we greatly appreciate the kind offer of donations we would like to offer something in return…….
Looking to the future, a wonderful way to help Nicaragua would be to book your next holiday here. It may not be an
appropriate time to visit now, but it won’t always be that way. Progress is being made and in the not too distant future,
tourists will once again be exploring this beautiful country.
We would like to offer you, your friends and family a 50% discount on rooms valid for anytime in the future (regularly priced at $85/night). By buying a night or more now for a future vacation, we will be able to keep the hotel open and keep our
staff employed. These nights can be used anytime in the future and by anyone you may want to give them to.
You may already personally know some of our wonderful team here, Nina, Marisela, Karla and Don Jorge. They’ve all been with us for a long time and helped create the Miss Margrits we have today. They are all the primary breadwinners in their
families and in fact are the only ones left with a job. We have had to make some cuts and thankfully all our staff have agreed to go down to minimum wage during this period, but even this is hard to meet without any bookings for the foreseeable
future.
Thank you in advance for any help and support you can offer. If you do plan to return to Nicaragua and know where you would like to stay, please contact those hotels and guests houses for a voucher for a future stay. You never know, this might
be the difference that allows Nicaragua's individual and independent hotels to stay open and support their employees and Nicaragua's bright future.
