Support Grant During Knee Injury Recovery

Donation protected

At the end of 2023, Grant's left knee began to fail, clicking and popping without end. By January 3rd multiple doctors examined the knee and recommended a visit to the ER within 24 hours. Stability relief was given in the form of an immobilizer at the ER.

Since January 3rd, multiple doctors and imaging services tended to the knee. Each doctor recommended seeing an orthopedic specialist, and each round of imaging only showed that the issue wasn't what they were looking for. To avoid taking the "case" from the orthopedic specialist, each doctor's visit since has been fruitless. Now, sharp pains and immense dull aches plague the good knee. This has made it hard to bend or put weight on it, similar to the first knee on a less painful scale.

The next available appointment is in February, 40 days after the initial onset of symptoms.

Based on his personal research and examination, combined with the fogginess of limited diagnosis help from hospitals and specialists, Grant believes the first knee may have experienced a lateral meniscus tear. He's crossing his fingers that his right knee is just inflamed from all the work he has been through recently.
Grants main mode of income, a single-operator small business specializing in invertebrate foods, has been paused to prevent further injury as they only seem to deteriorate as the knees are used. The stairs are also just not his friend right now. Should the initial injury be a lateral meniscus tear, the weight bearing restrictions can last over 3 months post-surgery.

The $15,000 fundraising goal will be used to help during the waiting time and recovery phase. Some of what it will help:
-Wheelchair, to help maintain independence while living alone, getting groceries alone, and staying safer on ice while going to appointments.
-Shower Chair, to help prevent injury while showering
-Physical Therapy Appointments, before and after surgery
-Pain Management Resolutions
-Co-pays and Cost of Imaging
-Other resources that help with putting clothes on, using the restroom more easily, etc.
-Rent, utilities, food, and water are expenses he cannot cover when his income is paused. First, he will use locally provided resources to supplement these needs.

The donations would help reduce a lot of financial stress, while also providing tools and resources that can reduce pain, injury, or further injury.

He is grateful of the support he has already received, and he really appreciates the help that friends, family, and the community have continued to provide.

Thank you so much for reading.
