Support the Greenville Community Garden

Greenville, North Carolina is home to the ECU Pirates and a blossoming plant community!

The Greenville Community Garden, located at 209 Stancil Drive, has become overgrown and needs a morale boost to keep going or else we risk losing this space to the city and it will become just another overgrown field on the greenway.

We have been asked if we would like to take on the responsibilities of the Greenville Community Garden and we are willing to – But we need help! In order to move forward, we need to secure funding for the first year in order to be sure we can cover the cost.

Cost Breakdown for 12 Months:

Soil, Plants, Fertilizer: $700

Water: $600

Mowing for 8 months: $400

Backflow Prevention Tests for 2 Plots: $200

Insurance to Cover Volunteers: $65

Who helps maintain the garden? There are already some established groups that help with garden clean up days. We are also looking for community helpers, local gardeners, and people who want to learn more about plants. We will have 1,608 square feet of space for plants so we will want LOTS of helpers!

What do you grow? In the past, the garden has grown tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, beans, peas, greens, cabbage, broccoli, onions, garlic, strawberries, asparagus, and ginger.

Where does the produce go? Volunteers are allowed to harvest from the community garden and we will also work with local organizations and transport fresh produce to soup kitchens and undeserved neighborhoods in Greenville.
