Support Greg & Shelly's Battle with Cancer

Donation protected
2024 has been a rough year for Greg & Shelly Imler.

First, Greg had been battling a nasty cough since the beginning of January which would not go away. The doctor tried antibiotics, steroids, but nothing worked. Finally at the end of the month, after repeatedly complaining to the doctor, he was given a chest x-ray. This was on a Thursday. The doctors saw something on the x-ray & the very next day he was sliding into a CT Scan. On Monday, February 5th, he got the call. Stage four lung cancer with metastasizing in the brain, bone & adrenal gland. Treatment began right away, chemo, radiation etc. Almost two weeks of appointments. Things didn’t look good as it was. But then for the first time ever, after decades of getting some sort of refund, they ended up owing the IRS & the state thousands of dollars each. Then a few weeks later, the engine in their 2016 car gave out & was so bad that the entire engine needed to be replaced. Another expense of tens of thousands of dollars. Luckily they had another car, but soon after, the entire exhaust system of that car needed to be replaced, costing still more thousands of dollars.

Between the lung cancer & the effects of the chemo, Greg was unable to work at all. All of the money was coming out of their savings, which dwindled quickly & now they are just hanging by a string.

Shelly continued working through all of this as their only source of income, then one day she had a pain in her leg & it appeared swollen & discolored. They went to the ER & were told that the doctors had found metastasizing from some unknown cancer. They were telling her that she has cancer but they didn’t know what kind it was.

Now the dreaded waiting begins. Knowing that the cancer is in the body & the torture of not knowing what kind it is. It has been at least three weeks at the time of this writing & the official diagnosis is still looming in the distance.
