Support Greg McKnight's Legal Journey

Hello, everyone. My name is Gregory McKnight, and I’m currently a second-year law student. This is really hard for me to ask as I usually am a get things done by myself person, but I’ve hit a really hard spot in my life. I’m grateful for anyone who can even take a moment to read or share this.

I’m reaching out for assistance to get through a tough financial stretch. I’ve been fully dependent on student loans throughout both undergrad and law school, covering all tuition and living expenses with zero scholarship aid. After graduating from college, I had high student loan payments that ate up half of my yearly earnings, usually $1,300 - $1,500 a month. Living expenses, coupled with student loan obligations, left me with little room to build a financial cushion, and I often found myself relying on credit cards just to get by. This past summer, I worked in an unpaid internship, and while I gained invaluable experience, it unfortunately added to my financial strain. Next summer, I’m scheduled for another unpaid internship, meaning I’ll be in the same position financially.

This semester, despite working diligently to cover my costs, I am at risk of falling behind. I’m particularly concerned with the possibility of bills going to collections / not making rent / food costs.

To get through these next two months, I’m humbly asking for your support to allow me to keep being a student. I do also have a part time job, but it’s hard to manage the hours of the part time in conjunction with the rigor of a full school schedule. Any contribution, big or small, would make a tremendous difference and relieve an enormous amount of stress, allowing me to focus on my studies and future goals. I have taken another some steps for accountability as seeking out food pantry resources, selling items on Facebook, and seeking alternative housing options for my 3L year.
