Support Gullah Geechee Queen Quet for Ocean Decade

Queen Quet is the Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) is a tireless environmental champion. She has been honored as a "Ocean Hero" and has also served as a cultural ambassador for one of the world's largest ocean NGOs. She works daily to work on environmental solutions to protect and continue the Gullah/Geechee culture which exist on the Sea Islands and in the Lowcountry from Jacksonville, North Carolina to Jacksonville, FL. Queen Quet and many other native Gullah/Geechees live on the front shoreline of climate impacts and continue to witness how these impacts are taking a toll on the water quality of their homeland. Ocean acidification, pollutants and more are causing food insecurity for native Gullah/Geechees as seafood is harmed by these increasing threats. The Gullah/Geechee Nation's Sustainability Plan has bought about initiatives to deal with these issues, sea level rise and flooding. The Gullah/Geechee Nation has consistently been a part of working to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The Ocean Decade is providing an opportunity for us to join in with others of the world that are seeking to heal and protect the ocean.

Queen Quet has spoken at numerous events about and testified before the United States Congress on behalf of the ocean. Her love of and passion for the ocean has led to her being invited to multiple international ocean conferences for 2024. We want to make sure that Queen Quet is present at these events to represent the citizens of the Gullah/Geechee Nation and to share the powerful work that they are doing on the Sea Islands. We are calling on you to support taking Queen Quet to these ocean decade conferences. As Queen Quet often says, "De land and de wata da we."
