Support Gus Shrider's Battle with Melanoma

Donation protected

For those of you who do not know Gus Shrider, Gus is a fun, loving brother, and a true child at heart, demonstrating remarkable resilience and determination as he faces another challenging chapter in his life. After overcoming melanoma at the age of 14, Gus was diagnosed in late January with stage 3 recurrent melanoma which has metastasized and spread from its original location. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries and pursuing immune therapy at the age of 18, he remains strong and positive, drawing strength from the support of his loved ones. Gus's courage and perseverance continue to inspire those around him as he navigates this difficult journey with grace and resilience.

Living at home as the oldest of six, Gus has been a source of inspiration as a son, big brother and grandson. The Mission Valley carries great meaning in Gus's family history. Despite facing health challenges that prevented him from joining the military after graduation, Gus has shown an unyielding spirit in overcoming obstacles; his younger sister was hospitalized for several weeks at Seattle Children’s hospital, the loss of his grandmother during his junior year with whom he lived with while his families’ new home was being constructed (later to be blown down by a massive wind storm), he remains positive and continues to brighten the lives of others with his smile. His story is a beacon of hope and strength for many who have faced similar battles. Gus is unable to work due to the side effects of his treatments and his family wishes to support him with his expenses in life and help him to continue doing things he enjoys. Any support is greatly appreciated as we celebrate life with him. Funds will directly support him along with these next chapters in his life while he is under the care of his amazing team of individuals at Fred Hutch in Seattle and Saint Patrick’s hospital in Missoula. Please continue sending those prayers, positive thoughts, and energy his way. It is definitely felt.
