Support Guy Woolman's Road to Recovery

Hi Everyone -
My name is Sarah Heid and I am Guy Woolman's daughter.
As many of you know (and some may not), dad was in a bike accident on June 8th about 3/4 mile from home. This accident led to an incomplete spinal cord injury at C5-C6 with an emergency posterior cervical fusion of C2-C7. Dad has been receiving great care through the Neuro ICU team at Dallas Methodist Hospital, where he still is as I am writing this.
Last Friday, the 14th, dad had a tracheotomy and PEG tube placed in hopes of weaning from the ventilator and gaining more function. Unfortunately, dad is still requiring a ventilator at 40% to help with his breathing as he is just not strong enough at this time. On top of that, he has limited movement of his left arm, no movement of his right arm, and minimal movement to stimulation of the toes on both of his feet.
Luke, Mom (Michele), Grant, Payton, and I have spent countless hours researching the next steps for dad. As of today, we have submitted for him to be transferred to either TIRR in Houston or Shirley Ryan in Chicago, both of which are in the top 3 for spinal cord rehab facilities in the country. By getting this specialized care, we hope that he will be able to be liberated from mechanical ventilation and gain more function so that we can bring him home.
As you can imagine, this is not cheap to do, but we are willing to make sacrifices and do what it takes. The cost of a one way transport for him on Angel Flight will be between $10,000 and $30,000 depending on location, thus where the Go Fund Me comes in. This Go Fund Me will directly go to the transportation for dad to receive the best care in the country.
We appreciate everyone taking time to read this. If you are unable to contribute, we completely understand and just ask for your continued prayers.
Love,
The Heid's and The Woolman's
