Support Hailey’s Terminal Battle Against AML

Please support 4-year-old Hailey from Adelaide, South Australia, who has been bravely battling acute myeloid leukemia (AML) for the past two and a half years. Your kindness and generosity can help bring joy and create cherished memories for Hailey and her family during this incredibly challenging time.
The Valle family recently marked three months since their return to Adelaide, during which Hailey has been able to spend most of her time at home, surrounded by loved ones and enjoying the simple joys every child deserves. Unfortunately, the results from Hailey’s recent bone marrow biopsy brought devastating news—her acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is progressing rapidly, and her doctor has provided a prognosis of just weeks. This outcome is as heart-breaking as it is unfair, given all the challenges Hailey has faced at such a young age. Despite this, Hailey remains largely asymptomatic and continues to be her cheerful, playful self.
Now, the Valle family is focusing on cherishing every precious moment together. For those who have asked how to help or are looking for ways to support them, suggestions for fun, local activities for Hailey and her sister Hannah are welcome. Additionally, some may wish to contribute financially to help fulfil Hailey’s bucket-list experiences or create special memories for the family.
Nicole and Peter have devoted themselves entirely to providing full-time care for their daughters, which has meant giving up their jobs and, consequently, their income. While nothing can erase the immense stress and pain they have endured, the kindness and generosity of friends, family, and even strangers can help ease the significant financial burden they face during this difficult time. The family emphasises that no one should feel obligated to contribute—every act of support already given has meant the world to them, and they are forever grateful.
The Valle family has done everything in their power to give Hailey the best possible care. This has included spending over a year at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, United States, and three months in Sydney prior to that. Unfortunately, Hailey’s journey highlights the significant gaps in rare paediatric cancer research and treatment. Had Hailey been an adult with the same leukemia, she could have received the necessary treatment without ever leaving South Australia. Despite these challenges, the family is deeply grateful to Hailey’s doctor and the team at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital for their unwavering care and efforts with limited resources.
Finally, Hailey, Hannah, Nicole, Peter, and their extended family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported them over the past two years. From fundraisers and charitable organisations to friends, family, and strangers, the outpouring of love and generosity has been overwhelming. Whether through financial help, kind words, or acts of kindness, they are forever thankful. The connections they have made along the way, both near and far, have provided strength and comfort in ways words cannot fully express.
As Hailey would say, “We love you all to the sun, and then the moon, and back.”
