Support Hailie's Journey to a New Kidney
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Danielle and I am the Aunt of Hailie LaCroix who recently has been added to the kidney transplant list.
As a backstory, Hailie was diagnosed at the very young age of 8 with kidney disease/failure. Until recently, she has had only one functioning kidney. The day after Christmas, my brother and sister in law brought Hailie to see her nephrologist and discovered that the only functioning kidney was now working at about 32%. With these numbers they decided it was time to put her on the transplant list, not news anyone wants to hear about their child.
After speaking with Amber further, they are hopeful to find a living donor. Hailie has type O blood, so she is only able to receive a kidney from someone who also has type O blood. Of course there are other criteria that must to be met aside from this. While time may not be on their side, if Hailie’s numbers drop to 20% or less she will then need to begin Dialysis treatment.
As of now, her appointments are once a month in Rochester. With that being said, now that she is on the transplant list and her numbers being low they may need to monitor more closely which may mean more frequent visits to Rochester.
I know times are tough for everyone right now, but the last thing I want Amber or my brother Robbie to do is worry about finances while seeking care for my niece.
If you are able to donate or even share this post it is greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much and I am so humbled by the community coming together already in search of a living donor for her!!
