Support Hannah Magill's Healing Journey

If you are lucky enough to know Hannah, you can’t help but marvel at her self-discipline in managing the daily challenges to her health and well-being. She is allergic to dairy and eggs, and even trace amounts will trigger a reaction. Gluten can bring on a migraine. Sugar affects her sleep and makes her feel sluggish and tired the next day. She avoids all these foods, which makes dining out and socializing with friends challenging. The endorphins that come from exercise help her mentally and physically, so she tries to stay active every day, but still, she suffers.

At age 13, she suffered her first head trauma during a softball game and started having debilitating headaches, migraines and chronic fatigue.
At 15, she started therapy and medication for depression.
At 18, she had a second head trauma in a car accident and developed back pain, worsening headaches, and migraines.
At 22, she was treated for anxiety, along with her other symptoms.
Now, at 29, she continues to experience chronic fatigue, headaches, migraines, and various eye problems, including eye strain and fatigue, double vision and blurred vision. We have recently learned that she has a convergence deficiency in her eyes, making it difficult to focus, and she has had to limit driving a car, her screen time, and reading anything in a small font. Reading anything for longer than five minutes causes extreme discomfort. Most days are spent counting down the hours until she can go to sleep, which is the only time she gets true relief.

Seeing someone so dedicated to their health struggle every day, mentally and physically, without answers to her chronic pain is disheartening. We have spent years researching, with many visits to various doctors. We have tried the holistic approach with acupuncture and Chinese herbs, traditional and ‘functional medicine’ chiropractic care, as well as the conventional medical route with daily headache medication, four visits to an optometrist, consultations with an ophthalmologist and a neurologist, a CT scan and an MRI, all without much success. But now we have hope.

We think we have finally found THE doctor, recommended to us by a trusted chiropractor friend of the family. After a call to the Apex Brain Center and an in-depth conversation with Dr. Trayford, we learned that Hannah is an ideal candidate for the ‘Functional Neurology’ therapy they specialize in. In recent years, it has gained significant momentum and wide acceptance as a proactive brain performance strategy and a powerful treatment option for nervous system disorders. The practice of Functional Neurology spans multiple disciplines, including chiropractic, psychology, conventional medicine, optometry, audiology, and physical and occupational therapies.

While we feel so relieved and excited to finally have found someone with answers and finally get Hannah on her path of healing, this type of specialized treatment is not covered by her insurance and is incredibly expensive. This healing journey will likely be 15 days of therapy for 3 to 4 hours a day. She is essentially going to “brain boot camp” to rewire the neurological pathways in her brain which control how she uses her eye muscles. The cost of treatment can be as high as $16,000.

While Hannah and I are fortunate enough to have jobs, pay rent on time, and take care of all of our needs, this is an expense we simply cannot afford but is also absolutely necessary. For us (and we think most people), this is a tremendous amount of money, which is why we have decided to set up this GoFundMe.

I can’t imagine Hannah continuing to live like this, and I hope that we are able to raise the money we need in order for her to complete this life-altering treatment and truly live her life to the fullest.

Thank you for any and all donations and for sharing our story. Just your reading up to this point means so much to both of us.

With deep gratitude,
Alia (Hannah's fiancée)
