Please Pray For Healing The Hartmeier Family

HAYDEN'S UPDATE: 11/4/2024

Hayden has been accepted to Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO just outside of Denver. Craig is a Neurorehabilitation and Research Hospital and is a "Model System Center" with gold standards specializing only in Spinal Cord Injuries and Traumatic Brain Injuries. There are only 16 of these hospitals in the country.

This is an answered prayer because my health insurance company had initially denied Hayden this treatment. Andy advocated and worked with a liaison from Craig to appeal and get the decision overturned.

The type of treatment Hayden will receive at Craig will be crucial to maximizing Hayden's neurological recovery and return to the most independent, productive life possible.

Craig Hospital heavily emphasizes that a caretaker, in Hayden's case, parent be there right along side Hayden and be an active participant in all of his therapy. Hayden is expected to be there for 4 months due to fact that my health insurance will stop paying for his treatment after that point. The brain takes the longest to heal and Hayden will continue his rehabilitation and therapy long after those 4 months are up at Craig. We won't be able to afford for Hayden to stay at Craig as it can run in to the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

During these next 4 months, we will be faced with a number of out-of-pocket expenses in addition to our regular monthly bills. Andy will be there for about 3 weeks each month which means his income will be immensely reduced. We simply will not be able to make even a fraction of our ends meet on my income alone. There will also be flights to and from Craig Hospital that Andy and I will need to arrange and make provisions for.

All of these enormous added expenses, a reduced income, and the holidays approaching leave us wondering how we will financially make it through or IF we can make it through all of this.

I am Hannah Hartmeier and I am trying to help raise money for my brother and my family in this time. On August 10th we received a phone call that nobody wants to receive. Hayden was in a car accident & was rushed to the ER for emergency brain surgery due to a brain bleed. This has been a long journey & will continue to be a long road ahead. We are currently working to get him into an inpatient neuro rehab in Denver that will require one of my parents to be there at all times. There has been so many prayers that have been so appreciated and that’s all we have asked for & needed. But in this step of our journey Hayden needs the best, most intensive rehabilitation we could ask for. TBI (traumatic brain injury) recovery is most crucial in the first 1-2 years and we are putting all the positive energy and prayers into him for the best recovery! Hayden is 19 years old and has a very contagious smile. He loved dancing and joking and being silly and we know with the prayers, positive vibes and intensive rehabilitation, we can bring that smile back to everyone's lives.
