What you may know of Heather is her warm demeanor, her stunning looks, her heart of gold, her voice of an angel, and her prowess on the tennis court. A few years ago, she was a successful businesswoman with a full-time gig, supporting her daughter, Rylee, and commuting into the city.
What you may not know is that Heather is currently fighting the greatest battle of her life.
In 2021, Heather was diagnosed with epilepsy, which has her experiencing dozens of seizures on a daily basis, the intensity of which have increased dramatically over the past two years. Earlier this year, it was determined that Heather has an extremely rare form of autoimmune epilepsy. The unusual nature of her condition plus her abundance of allergies means that it has been difficult to find the right treatment. The seizures affect Heather's motor skills, speech, and sometimes even her vision, which has limited her ability to work. While she does have a part-time job teaching tennis, the amount of hours she's able to work is not enough income to cover rent and basic expenses month-to-month.
This has been a really difficult time for Heather. She has put on a brave public face for the past several years -- you would never know that Heather is struggling from her social media posts -- but as the seizures and their effects worsen, and her ability to cover basic expenses falters, Heather's positive attitude is being put to the ultimate test. Every seizure results in irreversible brain damage.
Heather needs financial support while she continues to seek an effective treatment and applies for long-term disability, which is a process that can take six months or more. The money will go toward monthly rent and other bills and give Heather a little breathing room. Our goal is to cover her rent for the next year.
Heather is such an amazingly warm and beautiful human, inside and out. Every dollar, every prayer, whatever love you can send her way would be so greatly appreciated.
