It's Heather Wolf's 40th Birthday, October 31st!

Hello! My name is Linda Wolf. My extraordinary, beautiful and multi-talented daughter, Heather Wolf, is a devoted folk musician writing songs, recording, singing solo, leading choirs around the world, and most recently touring with her band Wild Revival. Her music has been extolled by well-known artists, producers, and festival organizers and concert goers.

For years, she has been playing with a non-professional dulcimer. Her dream has been to play a professional level custom-made mountain dulcimer designed by Joellen Lapidus, the woman who introduced Joni Mitchell to the dulcimer and was her luthier. Since 2019, they have been discussing Heather's design, which now Joellen is in the process of crafting.

Heather plays a unique electro-acoustic baritone dulcimer with a tuning specific to her voice, which is near impossible to find pre-made. Ron Ewing, a renown dulcimer luthier, with whom Joellen works, is also part of the team and will be making the body of the instrument. Joellen's design inlay is based on the mythical Firebird of Russian folklore, a symbol for the creative muse. The ebony peg-head and fretboard will have the Firebird inlayed in shades of mother of pearl, with a Western Red Cedar top and Maple underside for the best resonance. The sound holes will be the fallen feathers of the Firebird, which relates with Firebird folklore.

The inlay work by Joellen and the craftsmanship by Ron Ewing to produce this beautiful acoustic/electric instrument, plus the cost for two cases -- one hard for airlines-- plus a high quality pick-up, plus shipping and miscellaneous costs will come close to $3000.
