Support & Help Senior Vladimir Fernandez

Vladimir Fernandez is currently 76 years old (he will be 77 on April 12) and is struggling to pay his rent. He has been living in Brooklyn, New York since 1999 and has worked as a porter at the same apartment building for 20 years. It was only until 2016 when he was diagnosed with liver disease, that caused him to stop working.

As much as he wants to continue working for the apartment building, his body was failing him. He was admitted in the hospital and he could no longer work. Then pandemic occurred, everything came to a stop. Finding a new job was extremely difficult, especially being a senior and a frail elderly.

As of right now, he is currently staying in a room that is no bigger than a 5'x5' closet, and he is paying $900 per month for it.

Even with the current situation that he is in, Mr.Fernandez is devoted at his church, he is involved in the weekly food pantry. On Wednesdays, he is there first thing in the morning, he helps unload and pack the bags of the produce to be given out. He is also deeply involved in the Bible study classes.

In 2024, with the help from the church, his rent was financially covered for 12 months. Unfortunately it was not a permanent assistance.

My name is Jennifer, I work at Flatbush Adult Day Care as an event coordinator. I remember meeting Mr.Fernandez at the center half a year ago. He always has a smile on his face and greets every one of the seniors when he arrives in the morning. He takes the moment to say "good morning" to each of us and always have a big huge smile on his face.

I'm setting up this GoFundMe account on his behalf because there's no one else that's able to help him financially. I am hoping with the help of social media, we are able to help him in this difficult times.
