Support & Hope for Spencer & Jessica Purdy

Dear Friends and Family

My name is Brad Purdy. My two sisters Kellie Cartwright and Caroline Purdy-Bracko and I are the very proud uncle and aunts to two amazing young people, Spencer and Jessica Purdy. They are the children of our late brother Robert EG Purdy, who passed away suddenly on August 27, 2024. Those of us who knew and loved Rob were truly blessed to have had him in their lives, and are heartbroken at having lost such a bright light and kind man.

Spencer and Jessica loved their Dad so very much and will miss him every day. They are both attending the University of Victoria. Spencer is pursuing a Business Commerce degree and is currently in his third year of a four-year program. Jessica is taking Computer Science and is in her second year of a four-year program. They are both smart and driven, just like their Dad.

Spencer and Jessica are currently working part-time jobs, while they carry full course loads. Unfortunately their income is far from covering all their normal living expenses, and Rob had no life insurance, RESPs or savings. The children each live in separate rental homes, sharing costs with friends they live with. On top of each paying rent, they both pay for utilities, gas, groceries and more. Debt is building up and is not sustainable.

Through this GoFundMe campaign ("GFM"), it is our goal to ensure they can both pay off their current student loans and pay for their future tuitions, afford their living expenses and graduate debt free. Their current financial situation will not allow them to realize this goal at all. We want to set up Spencer and Jessica for their future success.

Over the next three years, the proceeds of this GFM will be disbursed directly to third parties for Spencer and Jessica’s necessities of life (tuition and education, related expenses, rent, living expenses etc.), rather than directly to the children, unless deemed an emergency or absolutely necessary. The proceeds of this GFM will be administered by myself, Brad Purdy and a third-party lawyer who will review and approve everything.
