Support Hope Haven West in Memory of Mark Burden

Tax deductible
Dear Family and Friends,

We are coming up on a year since we lost Mark on January 8th, 2024. This year without him has been the hardest year of our lives. We miss Big Mark every day, and it still doesn’t feel real.

During his retirement, Mark volunteered his time with Hope Haven West. Hope Haven is a nonprofit organization whose mission is fitting underprivileged, disabled children and adults with wheelchairs to give them the gift of mobility. In order to achieve this goal, Hope Haven depends on volunteers who dedicate their time and expense traveling throughout the developing world. Mark loved assembling these wheelchairs and seeing the difference it made, not only for the person receiving the chair, but for their entire family.

Mark’s last trip with Hope Haven was to Mongolia in August 2023 and he sadly passed away five months later. Hope Haven’s next trip is to Lima, Peru and this trip will be dedicated in memory of Mark.

One of Mark’s journal entries read: “I am going to live my life exactly as I desire. I am going to make this world a better place. I may only touch a small community or only a handful of people, but I will make this community and group of people happier and more content.”

Mark loved helping people and Hope Haven West was very important to him. In honor of his memory and to celebrate Mark’s life, we have opened a Go Fund Me account for Hope Haven West.

The cost of each wheelchair is $300.00. Our hope is to raise $30,000.00, which will provide one hundred chairs to those in need. Mark would have loved to be a part of this next trip to Peru. We know he would be proud of this contribution in his honor. If you would like to learn more about Hope Haven West and see how a wheelchair can change a life, please visit www.Hopehavenwest.com.

Thank you,

Joy Burden and Family
