Hunter Palak's ICU Recovery

My name is Melissa Harley and I am starting this for my sister Julie Palak and her family. Unfortunately, in the early morning of July 28th, my nephew Hunter Palak, who will only be 22 this Friday, August 2nd, was in a tragic pool accident. He was flown to Baltimore’s shock trauma and remains in the ICU. There are many unanswered questions at this time on what the outcome for him will be as this just happened. His injuries are very severe. His back is broken so a drain has been placed so there is room for swelling, he has had surgery on his C-spine, he is on a ventilator and has a feeding tube right now. The doctors are unsure if he will walk again at this point as there is no feeling from the waist down. We are just grateful he is alive. Our whole family is devastated.

My sister has not left his side and is not returning to work at this moment, obviously. My brother-in-law Paul and Hunters older brother are making the trip to the hospital back-and-forth from Frederick, MD to Baltimore. As you can imagine this is taking a huge financial toll on them and any help would be appreciated. We thank you for any support and will keep you updated as often as possible.
