Support Ilana through her Breast Cancer journey

This GoFundMe is being set up to support the wonderful and unwaveringly kind Ilana and her family – her two beautiful baby girls Charlotte (4) and Emily (1) and her husband John – who are currently going through the unthinkable.

Ilana (37) has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her immediate treatment plan will include immunotherapy and many months of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and then surgery.

Growing up in regional Queensland and with in-laws based overseas, Ilana’s ‘village’ is geographically spread and many of those closest to her have caring roles for young children, like Ilana herself. But Ilana has a wide support network who know and love her, and many of us will be hearing this news and desperately wanting to do something to contribute in a meaningful and practical way as she and her family navigate the challenges to come.

In light of this, our idea is to open this page up to those who wish to help in a practical way. The financial, emotional and physical burden that comes with this health journey are frightening and to be able to lighten that load is a great gift. We hope to help provide Ilana the opportunity to focus on herself and her treatment, while making sure that the time she is spending with her family is doing things that are healing and bring her joy. The funds contributed by Ilana’s beautiful network will translate into the following on-ground support while she undergoes treatment:

Ilana is an incredible friend to many. She’s the one to arrive bearing homemade baked goods, to find ways to thoughtfully celebrate others’ milestones and significant dates, and to respond immediately to an SOS for information or advice.
