Support Iliana's Medical Expenses

Hi, I'm Iliana (or illy) and I really don't like asking for help, but I'm fundraising to cover some recent and upcoming medical expenses.

I have had decades of terrible abdominal pain and digestive issues, and decades of being told it was all in my head. However, my condition deteriorated significantly in the past couple of years and after several painful and frankly demoralizing tests, I was finally able to prove what I'd been telling doctors for years: my colon simply does not work properly.

After trying and failing several conservative treatments for over a year, my doctors have all agreed that we have reached the point where surgery is my best chance at (hopefully) getting back some of my quality of life. So at the start of July I will be...retiring...my colon. It's a pretty major surgery and I will be in the hospital for several days and then on medical leave at work for several weeks.

I have acquired over $3,000 in medical bills this year from testing and a procedure that we had hoped would allow me to postpone surgery, but failed. I also have $2145 left in my out-of-pocket maximum for my health insurance this year which will therefore be my cost for the surgery.

If you have spare funds I would appreciate the help so that I can recover with a bit less stress, but please do not compromise your personal financial situation. I know things are hard for everyone right now ❤️
