Paws for a Cause: Helping Indy Heal

Indy is my 6 y.o. dog and best friend. She loves naps, snacks, playing with her friends at daycare, and walks in nature. She is incredibly sweet and makes friends with everyone that she meets.

Indy recently had surgery to remove multiple masses, strongly suspected to be Liposarcoma. The plan was for two to be removed, though three additional were found during surgery and removed - making it five masses total. The biopsy would later show that these masses were benign.

Apart from some gastric distress during and while in the recovery kennel, the surgery reportedly went well.

The next morning, Indy began experiencing constant extreme bowel incontinence while unaware of it. Around mid-day, she collapsed and was unresponsive. She was brought to the local Emergency Vet for stabilization, evaluation, and care for a couple of days.

Since then, Indy has continued to experience bowel incontinence without awareness that it is happening and has noticeable weakness in her back legs as she is starting to move around more. She is now in diapers full-time.

I am currently working with a new veterinary clinic on advisement.

Her new medical team that I am working with believes that she may have experienced neurological damage at some point due to her symptoms. We need to run additional tests to diagnose and determine what may have caused this and how far the damage is. Her incision sites are healing well but she has a lot more healing to do beyond what I could've imagined.

The funds raised will go directly towards Indy's medical bills and her healing journey. At this point, her medical bills accrued so far are over $6,000 with the future MRI estimated to be around an additional $5,000+.

Indy and I just completed a sudden move in March 2024 that was extremely devastating, unexpected, and unplanned. These sudden charges have left us in a very rough spot.

I want to be able to give her the best chance possible, even with these changes to her health. She's a great dog with a lot of life left in her.
