Support iO & Patty in Eaton Fire Loss
Donation protected
On January 8th 2024, iO and Patty lost their home they built together, brick by brick, in the Eaton Fire currently sweeping through Altadena, California.
iO, Patty and the animals are safe but their security and cherished memories were lost in the fire. Clothing, furniture, kitchenware, appliances and sentimental items are gone.
To know iO + Patty is to know how much they've dedicated their lives toward helping others. They are the good ones.
Today we show up for them. We humbly ask you to join us in our support of their family during this difficult time. These funds will support temporary housing, replacing essential belongings and providing them with the stability to recover from this unimaginable loss.

an excerpt from iO's upcoming book, First Home, which was sent to print only months before losing his...
Building has long been my hobby - then I figured out property is the foundation of wealth in - It’s what separates the haves and the have nots. Then I learned that POC and unmarried women could be barred from getting mortgages until 1974, and it became an obsession.
I set out to learn every in and out and hack and tool, to share it. I want every woman, poor kid, queer, POC and immigrant to understand how the shit works so our people can also feel the calm of knowing your home is yours, so I’ve been writing a book called First Home. It’s filled with a ton of practical guidance, the advice of 10 experts, and 10 people who figured out how to do it without any generational wealth who are first gen immigrants, Black, Latinx, gay, single women, single dads, etc. It’s almost done.
