Update: I am sadden by President Biden stepping down…he will always be highly respected…he put “country before self.”
I was elected to serve as a delegate from Iowa to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago for which I am very honored. This is an historic time for our country and I will be filled with many emotions. The message to all women is that we are good enough! And especially women of color!
The Iowa Democratic Party “Of, By and For the People! I am proud and honored to have the opportunity to represent Iowa. You may ask “why” and my response is representation matters. Iowa is a welcoming state even if recent legislation does not reflect this. The democratic voice is not being heard, be it women’s voice, people of color, LGBTQ, people with disabilities, union workers, young & senior, men, urban & rural, all people!
I am on the Board of Education for the West Des Moines School District, we are feeling the affect of money being diverted from public schools to private schools. Don’t our children deserve all of the resources necessary for a quality education? Don’t our teachers deserve a salary to meet their own financial needs? Too many teachers are using their own money to purchase materials for their kids because the state funding to the districts is not enough. Is that okay?
I don’t usually ask for help, but to cover expenses I need your help. Airfare over $300, assigned hotel $349/night for 5 days, food approx. $50/day. Your contribution would be very much appreciated!
Thank you ahead of time!
