Please help support Philly Iranians - a coalition of Iranians and allies in the Philadelphia, PA area advocating to free Iran alongside the #WomanLifeFreedom movement, which began after the murder of Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amini by Iranian "morality" police on September 16, 2022.
Money raised will directly fund activist efforts by Philadelphia-based academics and professionals advocating for Iranian liberation after the femicide of Jina Mahsa Amini and the hundreds of deaths that have ensued since.
Our vision is an Iran free from one of the most oppressive and inhumane dictatorships in the modern world--one that protects and supports its people; rather than silencing, imprisoning, and murdering them for speaking out against injustice.
WHERE YOUR DONATIONS GO
We are professionals, graduate students, Iranians and allies--all volunteer--dedicated to fighting for the rights of women and marginalized communities in Iran (and across the globe). As the need for our work has grown, we require financial support to continue our activism and advocacy.
Donations will fund:
- Our volunteer team - who are working round-the-clock without compensation: travel expenses, food/drinks during events
- Printing materials
- Event planning
- Merchandise
- Marketing/advertising, promotion, and office management
OUR MISSION & PROGRAMMING
Our mission is to create a unified coalition of Iranians and allies in the Philadelphia, PA region and increase visibility of the Iranian community in the United States through programming and events related to the #FreeIran movement. With an expanded network, we hope to motivate elected officials to act against the human rights violations in Iran.
Our coalition began forming in late September 2022 after the murder of Jina Mahsa Amini, for “improperly” wearing her hijab. Her murder sparked an international movement to protest the oppression of women, ethnic minorities, and LGBTQI+ people in Iran. Since her murder, Philly Iranians has held multiple events in Philadelphia focused on amplifying the voices of the Iranian people.
