Support Irene's Journey Through Transplant
Donation protected
We are rallying support for our beloved Irene who is going through one of the most painful health experiences - getting a bone marrow transplant.
Irene has dealt with health challenges her whole life and things came to a point where a transplant was necessary. This part of Irene's medical journey started months ago when she had to go out on medical leave and prepared to travel to and be admitted to the NIH. She became a patient at the NIH in March of this year and will be under their care on-site until September.
Irene's parents have been staying with her through this process and her brother Gordon (also her bone marrow donor) has also been by her side in Bethesda.
This process has come with many expenses including housing and medical bills (some planned, some unplanned) and loss of income for both Irene and Gordon.
A snippet from Irene's blog: "As many of you know, I’m going to be getting a bone marrow transplant this year. 2024 is going to be pretty awful, but it is also going to be beautiful...Regardless, at the end of the day, I am so thankful to have the support of my village to get through this process. Thanks for coming along on this non-linear journey of healing."
For more information and more updates on Irene's journey, you can follow along on Irene's Introspects (https://ireneintrospects.com/about-2/) or on Instagram following Irene @irenechen09 or Gordon @gordonychen
Excess funds will go into an endowment/non-profit to be established for kids with rare diseases or chronic illnesses/disabilities.
