Support Isabella and the Lewis Family

My name is Marcie Horbus and I am putting this together in hopes of helping one of my dearest friends of over 25 years and her family during an incredibly challenging time in their lives.

On Saturday, January 11th, Brooke and Chris' oldest daughter, Isabella, was involved in a freak sledding accident where she struck a tree and was traumatically injured. Her pelvis was shattered in multiple places, including where the spine attaches, as well as, trauma to her organs. This incredibly brave and immensely strong 17-year-old has endured internal bleeding, several blood transfusions, and a four-hour surgery that placed 16 screws and two plates to stabilize her. She did not suffer any trauma to her head and we are all so very thankful she did not sustain any brain injuries. She has spent four nights in the ICU and a total of 10 days (and counting) in the hospital. She is working so very hard with both her physical therapy and occupational therapy every single day to begin relearning how to walk again on her own and other daily functions. With all of this, Isabella has held a constant positive, uplifting, and determined attitude even in the hardest moments.

My hope and prayer is to help this wonderful family so very dear to my heart as they navigate what is to come. The journey back will be long, mentally/physically draining, and no doubt financially daunting. Even with insurance, there are medical costs with her ongoing therapy, equipment, and moving/setting up her bedroom on the first floor when she can go home. Any additional donations will go towards Isabella's college tuition as she is unable to currently work.
