Support Isabelle's Expedition to Kenya 2026
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Isabelle and I've been given the once in a lifetime opportunity to go on expedition to Kenya with Camps International who are organising the trip through my school (Grove School). This is a 4 week expedition and will take me out of my comfort zone and allow me to build my confidence.
The cost of the trip is £5000 and so I'm fundraising to help with the cost.
This expedition will take me from Tsavo East National Park to the sandy beaches of Diani exploring communities, wildlife and conversation.
During my time on the trip I will get involved with a range of projects including:
- Supporting education and community development in rural communities - learning skills from local tradespeople, such as basket weaving and bead making. Practising the local language of Swahili and playing games with local school groups.
- Spend time on wildlife and environmental conservation - including worming goats and building elephant defense barriers.
- Learn all about the Kenyan culture of the Maasai - there will be an opportunity to visit a local Maasai tribe.
- Learning how to cook traditional Kenyan meals
- Spend time on a world famous safari.
- Learning traditional arts and crafts and visiting local markets.
I have never been to Africa and am excited about the opportunities that this trip will give me. Having the opportunity to do something to support a community would be wonderful and I know the huge impact my support will have on the area.
Outside of my school life I am already a Volunteer for St John Ambulance with over 300 hours of volunteering time. I'm also a Cadet Sergeant for our unit so am keen to put my leadership and teamwork skills to good use. I am also learning to fly a Cessna 152 aircraft at present and working toward my Private Pilots Licence.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my story and thank you for any donations you are able to add to my fundraiser.
I am hoping to set up a page to share my journey when in Kenya so you can all see the exciting things I will be doing to support in the area.
Thank you again.
