Hi everyone, I am creating this go fund me to try to help raise some money for my dear friend Elanza and her beautiful 3 year old daughter Izi who has had their whole lives turned upside down by Izi’s diagnosis. Elanza is a single mother and has been working full time alongside supporting Izi through every step of her radiation, chemotherapy and surgery.

On September 25, 2023, just weeks after celebrating Izi's third birthday, an MRI revealed a brain tumor. The tumour was successfully removed the following day but Izi was diagnosed with a highly aggresive grade 4 cancer, Classical Medulloblastoma group 4 subtype VII.

To combat the remaining cancerous cells and prevent recurrence, Izi embarked on a rigorous treatment regimen. This included receiving daily anesthesia via a PICC line to undergo photon radiation therapy. Over the course of six weeks, she endured 30 sessions of radiation therapy targeting both her brain and spine, with treatments administered five days a week.

In January, chemotherapy became part of Izi's treatment protocol, necessitating the placement of a central line. While these treatments hold promise for recovery, they have taken a toll on Izi's young body. She experiences persistent fatigue, accompanied by bouts of nausea and vomiting.

To address the physical and cognitive challenges resulting from her treatments, Izi participates in various activities. Physiotherapy aims to mitigate balance deficits worsened by fatigue, while music, speech, play, and occupational therapy sessions support her development and well-being.

Uncertainties persist about Izi's future, particularly regarding the potential long-term effects of radiation therapy on her developing central nervous system. These effects could manifest as cognitive difficulties, including learning problems, concentration issues, and memory loss, as well as emotional instability. Additionally, there are worries about physical ailments such as heart conditions, growth abnormalities, impacts on puberty and fertility, as well as the possibility of a second tumour.

Contributions will ensure both Elanza and Izi receive the support and care they need during this difficult time. Funds will be used to provide them with the necessary resources for Izi's recovery journey, as well as to support Izi's well-being once her treatment concludes.
