Support Jaclyn Romay After Juan Carlos' Passing
Donation protected
On November 8th, 2024, the world said goodbye to a warrior in all capacities of the word, Juan Carlos Romay. He left behind his equal in every way, the love of his life, “the best thing that ever happened to him”, Jaclyn Romay. Now as we grieve his loss, we are asking for the aid and support of our loving community, family and friends alike, to please contribute to the healing of Jaclyn as she navigates the next part of her life, without the person she called home and her true love.
Jaclyn and Juan were fated to meet because their personalities match. Both independent and strong, this pair never let anyone feel or see the struggles that lied ahead with Juan’s diagnosis. They lived life to the fullest, and had adventures that will be remembered for a lifetime. About 10 years ago, the Romay family experienced a tragedy with the loss of Juan Carlos’ brother in an accident, that would ultimately lead to the discovery of Juan Carlos’ brain tumor. Although this was a surprise, Juan Carlos was able to manage the tumor with yearly scans and upkeep as he maintained a healthy lifestyle to ensure his full healing.
When Jaclyn landed in Juan Carlos’ life, on the anniversary of his brother’s death, no one could deny that the universe brought them together. As their story began walking their dogs, life would soon bring them closer, and Jaclyn would move down the block from her childhood home, and start making her future plans. With an engagement just around Thanksgiving, a wedding planned for the following summer, and a path ahead with unlimited possibility, the two were sure that Juan’s illness was a thing of the past. However, life had other plans.
With a change in the progression of his illness, they decided to get married earlier. 2 days later, Juan Carlos prepped for another brain surgery, that would unfortunately be a life altering event. From that moment on, Jaclyn made it her mission to restore Juan Carlos to his original health and wellbeing. This included researching his disease, advocacy in his hospital settings, meal prepping a specific diet tailored to his cancer, paying for back to back valet and parking at his various locations, missing work days, managing a home, caring for dogs, and dealing with the new routine life had given her.
Jaclyn sacrificed the end of the 2023-2024 school year, the entire summer, and beginning of this school year to devote her life to the healing of her husband. She never complained, she never asked for help and she stayed as strong and positive as a loving wife could. At this time, we are asking people to empathize with Jaclyn and the love story that got cut short, as she grieves and tries to figure out the next chapter of her life without Juan Carlos. We are asking for help with his medical expenses, their mortgage and the monthly expenses that will incur as Jaclyn grieves and figures out the next part of her journey. Juan Carlos would want to know that Jaclyn has security and safety in the home he left her.
Let’s all band together and remember a beautiful life cut short, and honor the woman who did everything she could to make his final months as great as possible.
