Support Jake Mitchell On His Road To Recovery

I have started this fundraiser on behalf of Jake & Ebony Mitchell, and Jake’s parents Clare & Glen Mitchell. My name is Katrina Birch, Glen’s partner.

On August 17, 2023, 24-year-old Jake was rushed to Wollongong Hospital ICU with a large blood clot in a vital vessel (the portal vein) to the liver.

Ebony was told to get Jake’s affairs in order when they received the news he needed major surgery to remove parts of his intestine due to restricted blood flow (Ischemia). This surgery is risky and has a high mortality rate.

Ebony is on maternity leave with their beautiful 8-month-old daughter Lilly. After they received this news, they hastened their wedding plans and were married in the ICU on August 25, 2023.

Once home, Jake’s recovery time will be at least 6 months (not knowing when he will be able to return to work) and he will require round the clock care.

We are all heartbroken, however he has a big network of love and support around him from his family and friends.

We are hoping to raise these funds to support this beautiful young family through Jake’s recovery; whether that be medical, rent, bills, food, or any other hurdle they may face in the coming times.
