Support Jake's Recovery from an assault

Donation protected

As many of you may or may not know my brother Jake had decided to make some calculated career changes late last year after nearly 15 years of working in the in the legal industry.

Last summer, he won a prestigious vegetable gardening award in Chicago and parlayed that into a small, but growing garden design and consulting business this spring.

He also partnered with a close friend of his to continue pursuing his artistic passions by joining an upstart design and advertisement firm as an unpaid COO to help get the business off the ground. While they were close to going fully live in the next month or two and start making positive revenue, they had hit some snags along the way and Jake had lined up some temporary work he was supposed to start in the next couple of weeks.

Jake did not undertake this transition lightly and understood that it included some risk, but he was calculated in that risk and he had the support of his partner Lizz and his family to make these life changes for his well being.

What that calculated risk did not account for was being violently assaulted by two men on the Ohio State Campus on Memorial Day Weekend, while attending a comic book symposium of all things, and ending up with catastrophic injuries after being kicked in the face multiple times

After a week in and out of the hospital in Columbus, along with surgery to install 3 titanium plates to stabilize his broken face, Jake is home and recovering.

However this recovery is going to be very long and very slow; Jake may not be able to work full time for the rest of the year as recuperates and the brain fog from whiplash and concussion symptoms subside.

I am asking you today to help Jake to be able to take the time he needs to recover from this traumatic experience and to be able to travel back to see his surgical team at OSU as required. He may also need to go back on short notice to participate in court proceeding as the police work to bring the culprits to justice.

He would never ask for help like this on his own. But this is a moment where he needs a little bit from all of us. If you know Jake, he would gladly, without question, go to the ends of the earth for those he loves; let’s reciprocate that selflessness back to him.
