It’s 10:46pm here in Colorado. My daddy is 1,207 miles away; fighting a hero’s fight. With a heart built for giving and loving, and a body built for creating and overcoming; he has lifted up and treasured every person God has put before him. He exudes a joy that cannot be taught. Tonight I call out to my tribe. Tonight I cry out to my prayer warriors, family, and friends, because the man that has lifted up so many, needs us now. My daddy, James Cook, was diagnosed two days ago with brain cancer. My momma, Paula Cook, took him to the hospital in fear of a stroke or TGA. His brightly burning fire for life has been taken hostage by a right temporal tumor. It was first discovered as a deep brain bleed. After the brain surgeon was able to spend more time assessing him last night, a second tumor was found. My daddy needs your prayers. Miracles happen everyday. My momma, as most of you know is disabled, and is going to need as much love and support as possible. Tomorrow my daddy will undergo the first of many surgeries, procedures, and treatments. The anxiety of the unknown requires true blind faith. My momma is the best care giver there is, but she’s up against trials as big as Goliath. She loves my daddy more than life, and he has been madly in love with her from them moment they met. Please hold them close to your hearts. If you’re able to help reduce the fear of medical bills, and the inability to pay their mortgage and utilities, I thank you from the bottom of my soul. No matter how old we get, we still need our daddy’s and mommy’s to help guide us through life.
This comes from the heart of their daughter, Lauren Cook Simpson. I want to do whatever I can to lift up my parents in their time of need.
