Support Jane After Fire and Honor Jeff’s Legacy

Life can change in an instant. On January 8th, the Palisades fire devastated our family, taking not only our Las Flores, Malibu, home of 41 years but also the life of our father, Jeff Takeyama. Jeff wasn’t just a husband, father, grandfather, and friend—he was the protector of our home and our neighborhood. In every fire before this one, including the 1993 blaze, he worked tirelessly to keep us and our neighbors safe. This time, the fire was different, and we are heartbroken beyond words.

Our father’s absence leaves a hole in our family that can never be filled. He leaves behind his wife, Jane, his daughters Tracy and Janna, his son Alex and son-in-law, Lio, and his 4-year-old grandson, Milo. Along with our grief, we are faced with the overwhelming reality that everything Jane had—treasured belongings from her travels, family keepsakes and photos, and the tight-knit community she called home—was destroyed. The neighborhood will never be the same and creating a new path for her feels overwhelming.

Why We’re Reaching Out

In the days following the fire, we’ve been overwhelmed and appreciative by the outpouring of love and support. Many have asked how they can help. To provide a clear way for friends and loved ones to lend their support and to properly thank you all, we launched this GoFundMe. We would love to hear stories about our father, who, if you had the opportunity to meet him, was a larger than life character.
